So I have already written like 5-6 articles on photoshop so far and things are going fairly smoothly(I hope so). The blog is very new but I am expecting that some traffic starts getting to build and the blog becomes more interactive as right now its very monotonous. If you have anything to share, any photoshop tips or suggestions or anything related to graphic than please do put your comments. I love to see comments and to reply them
Anyway in this article, I am going to talk about How you can create and Save Custom Brush in Photoshop.
If the standard brush tips in Photoshop are not enough or do not create the desire effect, any artwork can be used as a custom brush tip. This is what you have to do...
Import the artwork in Photoshop and place it on a transparent or white background.
After this step, go to the Edit>Define Brush Preset button. A name should be attributed to the new brush tip. After pressing OK, the new brush will be added in the Brush section in Photoshop. It is am easy an convenient way to create custom brushes that afterwards can be used to any picture and which are at a distance of a click.
After the new brush is defined and named, it is time to set the other settings related to the new brush (such as spacing). Without leaving the Brush palette menu, select the New Brush Preset command in order to resave the custom created brush. After these steps, all the preferred settings are saved and ready to be used every time the new brush is selected.
A few advices should be remembered when creating and defining custom brushes.
Every brush is in grayscale. No matter if the initial artwork from which the creation of the new brush has started, the final brush will be saved as a grayscale image.
The brush itself is grayscale. It only applies the foreground color in tints in order to match the gray found in the brush tip, and as a consequence, only one color is painted.
It is possible that the initial artwork from which the new brush will be created may need some extra contrast. In order to decide whether this is required or not, before starting working on the new brush convert the initial artwork to grayscale and see if it requires a bump in contrast levels. This may be needed because brush tips with higher contrast often leads to better results.
It is important to save the custom brush. Until the Brushes palette menu command in order to make a new set of all the brushes currently found in the palette will be used, the new brushes defined will not be saved. Another method to do this is to go to the Edit option > Preset Manager in order to make a new set of only the selected brushes.
I am not able to properly format this article(my apologies for that). If you want to ask something than please feel free to ask me.
